12-27-2010LegoIt looks like new set information for 2011 was found over the weekend. There are seven new sets, all with minifigs. Below is a list of the sets with what appears to be the figures for each set.
The photos are small on a couple of the sets so we'll have to update the few characters we couldn't identify. No price or piece counts yet. These should all be available around June 2011. Post Christmas ClearanceThe Christmas holiday is officially over and stores are starting their clearance pricing. Target is famous for this practice and this year they jumped in with 30-50% off their toys, including Star Wars items. Between two stores we found all the Speed Stars lines, Mini Muggs and 9-packs on sale for 30% off while The Clone Wars 2-packs were marked down 50%. Word is that the Defense and Attack Battle Packs have also been found at 30% off but we didn't see any. We did see the exclusive Geonosis Arena 2-packs and the Battle Packs but didn't check them for a discount and they weren't marked. Hallmark always does a 50% discount on holiday decorations starting the day after Christmas. While not all of the Star Wars ornaments were in stock at the two stores we stopped in, we did pick up the Luke Skywalker figure, mini Boba Fett w/ Han in carbonite and the Emperor set. We'll see if we can track down the Snowspeeder locally. We haven't checked Walmart yet but have word that some stores have marked the AT-AT down to $69.99 and that the Jabba set has been found for about $20. We'll try to have a few more updates this week as we come across other deals. 12-24-2010Merry ChristmasImperial Holocron wants to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! 12-20-2010Best and Worst 2010The year is winding down so we took a few days to look back at the year and write our annual Best and Worst list. We take a look at what we felt were the best and worst collectibles as well as the fun events that were available. Before the holiday feasting and gift giving begins, rewind with us for Imperial Holocron's Star Wars Collecting: The Best and Worst of 2010. 12-19-2010Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode IIIDon't forget that tonight on Cartoon Network we'll be treated to the third "Robot Chicken" Star Wars installment, "Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III." The hour-long special will start at 11:30PM EST. Guest voice actors for this episode will be Star Wars alumni Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels along with Zac Effron and "Robot Chicken" regular, Breckin Meyer. "Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III" will feature sketches that tell the entire Star Wars saga from the Prequels to Return of the Jedi. Toys-R-UsIt's looking like the already high prices for Star Wars action figures at Toys-R-Us just got worse. Jedi Temple Archives and other sites are reporting that Vintage Collection figures are up $1 to $10.99 while Saga Legends and Clone Wars are now ringing up for $8.49. While TRU has been running sales on Star Wars figures, the discounts are only bringing the price down to what normal retail is at Walmart and Target. And with those two stores routinely offering all three lines for $6 as we head into the final holiday shipping days, even the sale prices at TRU are too high. Walmart and Target have recently been ahead of the curve on new releases, and we hope they continue to be, and we recommend shopping with those stores over TRU until their pricing falls more in line. Gentle GiantOn Friday, Gentle Giant sent out an email to announce the delay of three Star Wars mini busts; Commander Faie, Commander Fox and Holiday Padme Amidala. The two Commander busts are the 2010 PGM membership gifts while Padme was this year's holiday release. Gentle Giant lists "production issues" as the reason for the delay but it's anyone's guess as to what the real reason is. Look for these busts before the end of January 2011. Also mentioned in the email is the extension, for one month, of current Premiere Guild memberships. Originally scheduled to expire on December 31st, membership will now run till January 31st. 12-15-2010Gentle GiantGentle Giant posted three new pre-orders last night for items that will ship next year. The first two are the newest additions to the Jumbo line, Luke Skywalker and Tusken Raider. For the mini bust line, GG is now offering Wicket W. Warrick. Both Jumbo figures are listed as $75.99 directly from Gentle Giant while Wicket is $60. Online retailers should have these up tonight or within the next couple of days and if you want to save a few dollars, we'd suggest waiting and ordering somewhere else. Edition sizes haven't been released yet. Barring delays, look for these in July 2011. 12-14-2010Around the Toy Aisle: Post Black FridayIt was just over two weeks ago that we had the annual Black Friday shopping day. Now that we've had a couple weeks to scope out the toy aisles post Black Friday, and with only 10 days till Christmas, it's time for the follow-up article, Around the Toy Aisle: Post Black Friday. LegoIf you're looking to pick up new 2011 Lego sets, Toys-R-Us is the place to shop. Along with current sets, they're listing new sets as "in stock for shipping" now. Keep in mind that TRU will sometimes inflate the price on these early releases so if you wait till January you may save a couple dollars shopping at Walmart or Target. SalesUntil December 20th, HasbroToyShop.com is offering free shipping on all orders, no minimum. K-Mart is offering Buy 2, Get 1 Free on Star Wars toys through the 18th. They picture their exclusive Commando Squad multi-pack and an electronic lightsaber but nothing in the advertisement says that it's limited to those items. Check your local store for more info. 12-5-2010SalesChristmas is fast approaching and retailers are running both weekly sales and specials on various days. You'll have to keep an eye on all your favorite shopping haunts for the daily stuff, but two stores with sales going all week that may interest you are Toys-R-Us and Target. Toys-R-Us will be offering the AT-AT for $20 off or $89.99. That should include the Kenner-style vintage packaging as I believe it's the same price ($109.99) as the regular release. The Clone Wars Rise of Boba Fett Ultimate Battle Pack is still $20 off also, for $79.99. You can also score a few role play items for 25% off including both the Darth Vader and Boba Fett helmets for $29.99 and the Clone Electronic Blaster for $19.99. Target has Star Wars Lego sets for, to quote, their "lowest" prices. This includes the Hoth Wampa Cave set for $27. Check your store for pricing on the other sets. While you're there you can also find Hasbro's R/C Hailfire Droid for $34.99 and Uncle Milton's Force Trainer for $69.99. And make sure to check the pricing on action figures because Target has had all their figures, including the Vintage Collection, marked to $6.00 for a few days now. Stores may vary so use the price scanners where available, you may find a deal. 12-3-2010Free Comic Book DayIt's been a couple of years sine we had a Star Wars comic for Free Comic Book day, but The Clone Wars makes a comeback next year when Savage Opress graces the cover of Dark Horse's Star Wars: The Clone Wars/Avatar: The Last Airbender Flip Book. Free Comic Book day is May 7, 2011 and it marks the 10th anniversary of this excellent program. There will be over 40 comics given away next May and the January issue of Previews catalog will have them all listed. You can also also swing by FreeComicBookDay.com for more information and to see the 10 Gold sponsor comics now. |
