Wizards of the Coast

WotC Mantellian Savrip
Mantellian Savrip

We haven't covered the Star Wars Miniatures line here in quite a while but thought that we'd mention the next expansion set, since it will be the last.  Wizards of the Coast is ending the Miniature line with Masters of the Force, which is due in stores on April 6, 2010.

The set consists of 40 miniatures and will include powerful Jedi and Sith such as Yoda, Vader and Mace Windu.  One cool feature of this last expansion is a set of minis depicting the characters we saw in A New Hope on the Dejarik holochess game.  Included will be the Mantellian Savrip and Molator along with others.  StarWars.com has a preview of those two characters as well as an article about the expansion.

Sideshow

Sideshow will be giving a sneak peek at their San Diego Comic-Con exclusives today so make sure to stop by their website to get your first look.

It's also interesting to note that in a Q&A answer on their website, from the 29th, they mention that they won't be attending Celebration V this August.  If this had been announced previously I think we missed it.  They mention having product reveals online during the convention but no mention if they'll have an exclusive offered.  We'll keep you updated if we learn more.

Galactic Empire State of Mind

I usually don't post a lot of the fan videos and stuff, but this College Humor vid really needs to be seen.  If you're a fan of the Jay-Z and Alicia Keys song Empire State of Mind then you're going to love Galactic Empire State of Mind!

Hasbro

Don't forget that tomorrow, Wednesday March 31, 2010, is the last day to have your Qui-Gon Jinn and Eopie mail-away order postmarked.  Orders need to be dated tomorrow and received by April 8th in order to qualify.

As we reported back on the 4th, some people that sent in for this offer received postcards saying that Hasbro was going back into production in order to fill the orders and that new shipments wouldn't start until May 10, 2010.  Keep that in mind as you may have to wait a while for these to ship.  Hasbro had a similar issue with the Crystal Skeleton offer for the Indiana Jones line but as far as we know, everyone that sent in their order received their toys.  We have no reason to believe the same won't happen this time but, as is always the case with these offers, they're only good "while supplies last."

While you have your checkbook and UPCs out, don't forget that you can also send in an order for the Clone Wars promotion as well.  Nahdar Vebb's offer runs until June 30, 2010.  I don't believe any have shipped yet but they should probably start showing up at any time.

Sales

There are a couple of sales going on this week that you may want to take advantage of if you're after basic action figures or any of the vehicles in the Starfighter line.

Target

Target has their action figures, all three lines, marked down to $6.99 this week.  Some stores have had this price for a couple of weeks now but this looks to be a company wide sale.  They also have the Starfighter vehicles marked at $17.99 which is a steal for that line.

And while you're in the toy aisle, head for the Lego section because the Freeco Speeder, set #8085, is marked down to $20.  There may be some other sets marked down as well but they aren't listed in this week's ad.

Toys-R-Us

TRU stores have their basic action figures marked at 2 for $10.99 through Saturday, April 3rd.  You can also pick up the electronic lightsabers for 25% off.

Disney

StarWars.com announced some of the newest Star Wars collectibles yesterday for both their action figure line and Racers.

Coming in the action figure line we have:

Hasbro

While some are waiting for the Force Unleashed boxed sets and the final wave of Legacy Collection to appear at Toys-R-US, there is still plenty of new items hitting retail pegs that you can be on the hunt for.

Comic Packs

The Walmart exclusive comic packs, IG-97/Rom Mohc and Storm Commando/General Weir, are being found around the country and the third pack that was supposed to ship with them, Dllr Nep & Plourr Ilo, is shipping from Entertainment Earth.

The final wide release wave of comic packs is also being found, most notably at Target.  The final wave includes the following sets:

  • Bogey Squad Scout Trooper & Cone Trooper
  • Commander Cody's Lieutenant & Utapau Clone Trooper
  • Exar Kun & Ulic Qel-Droma
  • Jedi Master Tholme & T'ra Saa
  • Stormtrooper & Blackhole Hologram

Other than the convention exclusives coming later this summer, these will be the last packs before this line takes a hiatus.

Clone Wars

The newest wave of Clone Wars figures is also beginning to appear at retail.  This current wave includes the following:

  • Obi-Wan in cold weather gear
  • Clone Trooper w/ heater pack
  • Magnaguard
  • Firefighter Droid
Battle Packs

There are four new Battle Packs, two each from the Saga films and Clone Wars, starting to show at Target.  The Saga sets include Tatooine Desert Ambush and Birth of Darth Vader while the Clone Wars sets are Holocron Heist and Jedi Showdown.

All four sets are great starting points for new collectors and kids.  The Desert Ambush set includes not only Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn and Anakin but also Maul's speeder.  Birth of Darth Vader includes the Deluxe Darth Vader with his operating table and two medical droids.

The Clone Wars sets have a great mix of heroes and villains.  Holocron Heist pits Yoda, Anakin and Ahsoka against Cad Bane while Jedi Showdown includes Anakin and Obi-Wan facing off with Count Dooku and Asajj Ventress.

Y-Wing

And while you're at Target shopping for the newest toys, take a look at the Clone Wars Y-Wings.  Reports have come in that people are finding these on clearance for as low as $22.  Remember, this is the $70 Y-Wing so that's quite a deal.

Sideshow

501st Clone Trooper

501st Clone Trooper

Sideshow has announced their next 1:6 scale action figure and it's the 501st Legion: Vader's Fist Clone Trooper from Revenge of the Sith.  The Priority Pre-order will go up at 1:00PM EST next Friday, April 2nd.  Although the price isn't listed yet, expect this to be in the $89.99 range where the other Clones have been priced.

Aurra Sing

The exclusive edition Premium Format Aurra Sing statue has had her edition size set and it's low, only 450 pieces will be available.  The exclusive is a lightsaber trophy case, which really adds to the mystique behind the character.  If you missed out, jump on the wait list.

The regular edition is still available now and the edition size has not yet been set.  The regular edition runs $289.99 while the exclusive will set you back $299.99.

Checklists

We updated and posted the new Vintage Collection Checklist with all the info from Toy Fair and some new details that were confirmed in this week's Q&A with Hasbro.  The Clone Wars Checklist was updated and now reflects the correct wave numbering for 2010.

Also updated is the Build-A-Droid Part Matrix which reflects the latest info on Hasbro's new Empire Strikes Back case revision.  There are two figures, Stormtrooper and Plo Koon, which come with different HK-50 parts in the Wave 12 Revision 1 case.  The mix of characters in the case also changed from our original Matrix list; we now know that a Gungan Warrior is packed in the case as well as the TPM Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Hasbro Q&A

A few more sites reported in yesterday and we have some new details on the 2011 A New Hope wave of figures and confirmation on which AT-AT Driver will be packed in with the AT-AT.

We were originally looking at one ANH and one TPM wave for early 2011 before the line goes to mixed waves.  Now Hasbro, in an answer to Jedi Temple War Room, gives us the news that the ANH wave will not come out together but rather have the figures split out over multiple waves.  That would go along with their information about the ROTS wave that they released Wednesday, in which they mention there will be one ANH character packed in the case.

Raving Toy Maniacs gets confirmation on which version of the AT-AT Driver will be included with the new AT-AT, and it's the Saga Collection version.  According to the answer, the helmet will have a red stripe on the back which will make him a variant of the carded figure released in 2006.

Echo Base Forums asked about the potential for a new Aurra Sing in the Saga line of figures and there's good news, there should be a new figure in 2011 if plans hold.  This will be in addition to the new Clone Wars figure that was shown off at Toy Fair, and which is awesome!

If you are a fan of the FX line of lightsabers then ASM Zine has good news for you, Hasbro will bring out a new Luke Skywalker lightsaber in 2011.

Hasbro

The latest wave of exclusive comic packs are starting to pop up at Walmart stores in NY.  We found both sets, IG97 & Rom Mohc and Storm Commando & General Weir, at a store in northern NY yesterday afternoon.  There were several sets on the pegs and they rang up at $14.88 each.

If you're interested in them, starting checking our your local stores.  And don't forget that the third set that was supposed to be part of this wave, Plourr Ilo and Dllr Nep, is now an Entertainment Earth exclusive.

Hasbro Q&A

The most recent edition of the Q&A session with Hasbro was yesterday, and we have a roundup of several cool pieces of news.

It's been rumored for a little while that we were in store for a new Senate Duel Darth Sidious in an upcoming ROTS wave but we now have confirmation via Han's Hideout.  He'll be in the second wave of the Vintage Collection line which will include 8 total figures.  According to their answer, four will be upgrades of existing figures and four will be greatest hits, including at least one figure from ANH.

Imperial Shipyards gets the scoop on an upcoming Battle Pack that will support the new AT-AT.  The pack will include Vader, Snowtrooper and Speeder Bike Scout "along with other key accessories."  Maybe an accessory could be a speeder bike for that Scout to ride?  We'll let you know.

Jedi Insider asked for, and received, a new photo of the Darth Vader with 3-piece removable helmet.  Very cool!  Make sure to head over to their site for a look at this upcoming Vintage Collection release.

Another site featuring photo goodness is Jedi Temple Archives who has a shot of a new-ish General Grievous.  As cool as that photo is, the news from their second question is not as good; the alternate head/accessory release of the Imperial Scanning Tech and the second Utai (shown at SDCC 2009) are not coming out in 2010, and 2011 isn't looking good either.

Via Rebel Scum's second question, Hasbro delivers good news for Wedge fans everywhere; he's slotted into the Vintage Collection line this Fall as a single carded figure!

Hasbro

Hasbro released new packaging photos for their upcoming line of Force Battlers.  They're only showing off Anakin Skywalker and Captain Rex but there's also a General Grievous in this line.  No price point has been released for these yet but look for them on store shelves in August.

Lego

Stormtrooper minifi

Toys-R-Us is running a promotion this week where you can get a free Silver Stormtrooper minifig with any purchase of $11.99 or more.

The offer is for both the stores and the website.  The figure is currently listed as out of stock on the website but does have a price of $2.99 so you may be able to buy it outright when it's available.

Keep an eye on your local store and the ToysRUs.com website for your chance to pick up this minifig.

Hasbro

Hasbro released some new photos of upcoming Transformers Crossover toys that will be coming later this year.  All of the characters are based on their new Clone Wars appearances and include Cade Bane as a Magnaguard Starfighter, Captain Rex as a Freeco Speeder and Yoda as an Attack Shuttle.

Also due are Anakin Skywalker as a Y-Wing and Obi-Wan Kenobi as a Jedi Starfighter.

3-10-2010

Entertainment Earth

Slow news week, so it was great to read last night that EntertainmentEarth.com has picked up the previously homeless Walmart comic pack of Plourr Ilo and Dllr Nep!  They're taking pre-orders now with an expected release of April.  The price took a bump, $17.99, but with carded figures running in the $7 range, it's not bad for an exclusive.

Hasbro

Hyena Bomber

JediDefender.com debuted some proto images for a new Hyena Bomber from Hasbro on Tuesday.

It looks like it has a lot of moving parts and detail, and from the ruler in some of the photos, it looks as though this will be in the Starfighter line.  This wasn't shown at Toy Fair, neither was the Separatist Gunship, so this hasn't been confirmed yet.  If it is coming, we wouldn't expect it till the Fall at the earliest.  If we don't get confirmation before, look to San Diego Comic-Con or Celebration V for more details.

Eopie and Qui-Gon

If you sent away for an Eopie and Qui-Gon set, and haven't received it yet, you may have to wait a while.  Some collectors started reporting earlier this week that they received postcards from Hasbro saying that they had to produce additional sets and that they will ship around May 10, 2010.  The postcards include a phone number that you can call to cancel your order if you choose.

Hasbro had a delay like this on the Crystal Skeleton offer for the Indiana Jones line but as far as we know, everyone that got their order forms in before the offer deadline received their order.  One thing to note, there has been at least one report of someone sending in an order for the new Nahdar Vebb figure and receiving the Eopie.  If that happens, contact Hasbro and they should be able to straighten that out.

Lego

Lego BrickMaster members will be getting at least one new Star Wars set with their subscription; July's magazine will include set #20016 Imperial Shuttle.

The Shuttle has 70 pieces and should be bagged like previous BrickMaster sets.

Target

Target is in the process of doing a reset in the toy aisle which will hopefully mean some replenishment on product such as the Transformer and comic pack lines at local stores.  Both have been lacking since the holiday.

One thing to note was the shelf arrangement retained the Geonosis Arena exclusives but did away with the Turbo Tank SKU, moving the large Starfighter line, which includes the Clone Wars Y-Wing and ARC-170, to the spot the Tank occupied previously.
