Just a reminder that today is the first day of the new McDonald's Star Wars promotion.  The Happy Meal promotion includes eight different Star Wars toys including four character keepers and four starship launchers.

Look for special Star Wars graphics on the Happy Meal boxes.  You can check out HappyMeal.com for pictures of the toys, commercials, screensavers, wallpapers, icons and coloring pages.

Empire Strikes Back Artwork Collection

StarWars.com announced a new artwork collection that will begin in March.  ShopStarWars.com will release 12 prints, one per month beginning on March 26, 2010, by twelve different Star Wars artists.  Each print will chronologically tell the store of The Empire Strikes Back

The prints, produced by Acme Archives, will be limited to 100 pieces each.  A folio will also be offered to hold the 12 prints.  The list of artists includes favorites such as Cat Staggs, Chris Trevas, JAKe and Russell Walks.  No pricing has been announced at this time.

Kubrick

Deluxe

Last year Medicom announced two new Deluxe waves of Star Wars Kubrick figures, with each set building a larger figure.  The Return of the Jedi set, which builds Jabba and his dais, is set for about June of this year and now we have new photos and info on the other set from The Empire Strikes Back.  The Hoth themed set includes the following six figures which contain parts to build an AT-ST.

  • Luke Skywalker
  • Han Solo
  • Princess Leia
  • Chewbacca
  • R-3PO
  • Snowtrooper Commander

Hoth Luke Hoth Han Hoth Leia Chewbacca R-3PO Snowtrooper Commander AT-ST front AT-ST back

According to the info from Medicom, each figure will retail for approximately $15 with a box costing about $180.  Prices may vary depending on where you are able to import them from.  These will be available in August.

C-3PO

For C-3PO fans, Medicom is also releasing a 400% C-3PO figure.  C-3PO is also due in August, for approximately $115, and is limited to 1,000 pieces.

400% C-3PO front 400% C-3PO back

Target

As Target moves forward with their Easter seasonal items, we found two more Star Wars items last night that you should keep your eye out for.  Target has two egg decorating kits available.  One has stickers from the Clone Wars cartoon while the other includes stickers with art by JAKe.  Both sets are $2.99 and are in the seasonal section of the store.

The bins for the Easter toys have also been set and it looks like the price of the two Star Wars Lego sets should be $3.49.

Hasbro Q&A

Dewback Patrol gets confirmation on three characters for the future Vintage lineup; Bom Vimdin, Dr. Evazan and Ponda Baba.  Coupled with Han's Hideout's answer, we should see those figures in 2011.

If you're a fan of minutiae, or just like your astromech droids, you may be happy to know that both the droid from the new Target Wedge X-Wing set and the ARC-170 Elite Squad (from way back in 2007) now have names.  From Raving Toy Maniac we learn that Wedge's droid is R2-A3 and the ARC-170 droid is R4-C7.

Confirming, and adding detail, to something that was sort of burruied in the last Q&A, the EU wave will be exclusive to Toys-R-US.  Hasbro also tells Yak Face that the production run will be the smallest in the red and white packaging, about on par with the 2009 Attack of the Clones wave which finished out the blue and white Stormtrooper packaging.

Lego

If you are a fan of the Lego magnet sets then you're in luck, we should see at least two new sets later this year.  Each magnet set includes three minifigs attached to a brick with a magnet set.  No set numbers yet, but the two new packs are listed below:

  • Return of the Jedi: Han Solo, Paploo, Scout Trooper
  • Clone Wars: Chancellor Palpatine, Nute Gunray, Onaconda Farr

Comic Images

Looks like we missed a couple new backpacks from Comic Images.  At Toy Fair this week they debuted two new backpacks from The Empire Strikes Back and they're both very cool; Boba Fett's rocket pack and Chewbacca's backpack with a blasted C-3PO!

The official Star Wars blog has photos and more coverage of Comic Images.  Make sure you check them out.

Sideshow

Greedo
Greedo

Don't forget that today is the pre-order for Sideshow's new Greedo 1:6 action figure and the Cantina Environment.  The sale should go live at 1:00PM EST today.

Greedo will have a regular edition for $89.99 and an exclusive for $94.99.  The exclusive item will be a Han Solo wanted poster.  The Cantina Environment will also run $89.99 directly from Sideshow.  You can check out an advanced photo gallery of both Greedo and the Cantina on Sideshow's website.

Boba Fett
Sideshow Boba Fett
Boba Fett

Sunday, during Sideshow's online Toy Fair event, they announced the next life-sized bust and it's everyone's favorite bounty hunter, Boba Fett.

The 1:1 scale bust features Boba Fett from his Empire Strikes Back appearance.  Fett will set you back $799.99 direct from Sideshow but they are offering a FlexPay option.

Fett is due in the fourth quarter of this year and the edition size will be set later.  He went up last night with the release of Sideshow's newsletter and has not sold out as of this writing.  Still, if you do miss out, get on the wait list as there are sure to be a few cancellations on this.

Droids

While Sideshow has said that they are working on their own versions of R2-D2 and C-3PO, they're still importing Medicom's Real Action Heroes Star Wars figures in the 1:6 scale.  Last night they put the latest offerings up for pre-order; R2-D2 and C-3PO.

Medicom C-3PO Medicom R2-D2

Both R2 and C-3PO have light-up features and are shipping in the third quarter.  C-3PO runs $199.99 while R2 is $189.99.  Both have the FlexPay option available.  Both are currently still available.

Target

Valentine's day is over and Target is already setting for Easter.  There are a few Star Wars items already set or at least have pegs set out for them:

  • Captain Rex plush candy basket $9.99
  • Metal Clone Wars candy bucket w/ Anakin and Obi-Wan graphics. $4.99
  • Star Wars themed "grass" which was about $2.50 or so.
  • Star Wars themed plastic eggs of some kind, also for about $2.50 or so, but they weren't stocked.

Once the toy bins go up, look for two Lego mini sets; #30050 Republic Attack Shuttle and #30051 X-Wing.  They should probably be about $3.99 or $4.99 each.

Not sure what else they might have coming up.  The Rex plush basket is smaller than the red Clone Trooper helmet from last year and seems a little thinner and more cheaply made, but for the same price.  One nice addition to the Captain Rex helmet is a small amount of Velcro to hold the lid closed.  Last year's could benefit from that.

Hasbro Recap

After looking over the Toy Fair photos and slideshow information, it looks like Hasbro has some interesting product coming this year.

The new Vintage Collection of action figures should be a big hit with many collectors as it not only recreates the Kenner cards, the action figures are said by Hasbro to be the best version of each character available to date.  The separation of card style from the Legends and Clone Wars lines should also help at retail when it comes to stocking pegs, it'll be easier to tell them apart.

Most everyone was excited over the AT-AT even though debates on price and features raged online since the first hints were dropped that this would really happen.  There are still some dissenting opinions, but for the most part collectors seem to be happy.  I was excited over the Millennium Falcon in 2008 but the AT-TE and Turbo Tank didn't feel like must buys at the time.  The AT-AT, does.  I'll be saving my pennies waiting for this to hit shelves this August.

The only new products that Hasbro is launching this year are the Speed Stars and Force Battlers while they are doing away with both the comic packs and Galactic Heroes Cinema Scenes.  With the previously cancelled Evolution, Titanium and Unleashed lines, this should give Hasbro a smaller footprint in toy aisles in 2010.  The other line that doesn't seem to be carrying forward, as no new product was shown, is the large vehicle line, the one that contained the Y-Wing Bomber and ARC-170.  I think price doomed that line for general release but we'll probably still continue to see exclusives in that $65-$70 price range.

Hasbro has some interesting exclusives on tap for the year with comic packs being the main format.  There will be at least two convention exclusives along with the exclusive wave due at Walmart.  San Diego Comic-Con will give us the Visionaries version of Darth Maul and a new Uncle Owen while August's Celebration V will bring the Camie and Fixer pack that was hinted at last year.

Celebration V will also have a 2-pack of Vintage Collection figures, 4-LOM and Zuckuss.  Mimicking their vintage naming mix-up, the 4-LOM figure will have a Zuckuss name plate while Zuckuss will have 4-LOM's.  They'll ship in a display box and make for a fun nod to Kenner.

Boba Fett
Boba Fett

Probably the most fun exclusive will be the mail-away "rocket firing" Boba Fett.  Recreated in all of his Kenner glory, Fett will have five points of articulation and looks almost identical to Kenner's vintage sculpt.  He'll be carded and will include two missiles, one for show and a longer one that will launch by push button from his pack.  Look for the Boba Fett offer to appear in August with the Empire Strikes Back wave of Vintage Collection figures.

Disney has had some interesting exclusive figures over the years including the single carded droids and last year's Jedi Academy pack, but this year's Boarding Party is notable for two reasons; Teek and Kaink.  Neither has been released as an action figure before and they were both also associated with the television "Ewoks" movies.  Teek appeared in "Ewoks: The Battle for Endor: and Kaink was in "Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure."  This set is limited to 15,000 sets and will debut along with Star Wars Weekends on May 21st.

While there will be plenty of product to pick up this year, it's hard to ignore the fact that most of it won't ship until August or later.  There are two exclusive sets of figures coming to Toys-R-Us in the next couple of months, but it's going to be a long summer without much besides a couple of Clone Wars figure waves.  I'll give Hasbro a B on their Toy Fair presence. They had some cool items on display but, as is normal, leaks let is on most of the scoop long before their Saturday preview.

Lego

Lego showed off their 2010 sets but most of them have already been released or at least announced.  There were a few rumors that we reported in January that seem to have been confirmed at Toy Fair.

First up, there will be a new AT-AT this year, and it's from The Empire Strikes Back.  It's set #8129 and will be an exclusive.  No price has been mentioned yet but it should come with the following minifigs:

  • Luke Skywalker
  • Han Solo
  • C-3PO
  • General Veers
  • Hoth Rebel
  • 2x Snowtrooper
  • AT-AT Driver

The second confirmed set is #8128, Cad Bane's Speeder.  Again, no MSRP, but it should include the following minifigs:

  • Cad Bane
  • Elite Assassin Droid
  • Shahan Alama
  • Senate Commando Captain
  • Senate Commando

And, if you were lucky enough to get an invite to the Lego party at Toy Fair, you could have picked up your exclusive all-white Boba Fett minifig.

On a pricing note, if you've been putting off some of the sets due to price, you may want to consider buying now.  Lego is advertising some of the early 2010 sets with an MSRP for January through June and then bumping the price after that.  For example, the small Battle Packs like the #8084 Snowtrooper set is listed for $10.99 now and $11.99 after June.

Uncle Milton

Even though these were first announced at the UK Toy Fair in January, Uncle Milton brought their new science toys to the US this weekend.  Look for the following new items at retail later this year.

  • Mini Lightsaber Tech Lab
  • Holographic Animation Lab
  • Death Star Planetarium
  • Clone Wars Ant Farm
  • Bug Recon Kit
  • Lightsaber Room Light

Comic Images

Comic Images has been putting out Star Wars plush toys since at least Revenge of the Sith and this year at Toy Fair they showed off some new Posable Plush toys.  They're about 10 inches tall and CI was showing Darth Vader, Yoda and Chewbacca.

They also showed off a new Vader and updated Yoda plush in the 20 inch format, now sporting lightsabers.  Yoda was released for Celebration IV with his cane in this format and Chewbacca at San Diego.

Both Yoda and Chewbacca were shown at Toy Fair also, along with the currently available backpacks of both characters and the 8" plush that have been selling at retail.

Diamond Select

Diamond's booth contained both new and current items that they produce under the Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum banners as well as other toys that sell to US retailers through Previews.

For existing product they showed off die-cast toys from De Agostini, Chubbies nesting dolls, the Hasbro McQuarrie action figure multi-packs and Kotobukiya ArtFX statues among other items.

Falling into the new category were Diamond's new Clone Trooper, Droids and Boba Fett banks and ANH Han Solo 1:4 scale action figure.

Although Gentle Giant didn't have a presence at this year's Toy Fair, they were showing off three new pieces at Diamond's booth.  They included the upcoming Hoth Leia and Lando Calrissian busts and the Trash Compactor Bookends.

Toy Fair - Update 4

Just wanted to cover a few other Hasbro Star Wars items now that we've had time to sort through all the news and photos.

Speed Stars

A month or so back a bunch of prototypes showed up, including the Force Battler Rex, Snowspeeder, Cloud Car and a few other items.  Included were small ships with ripcords that seemed to be a new product Hasbro was launching.  Now we have some more details.

The line is called Speed Stars and there are several of the ripcord ships and two playsets.  The first is called the Tri-Droid Blast Set.  It includes a large Tri-Droid with moving arms that form ramps.

The second is Grievous' Escape which includes an exploding target and a Republic Gunship.

The small ships come in two styles; one type has a ripcord and the others have a small launcher shaped like a lightsaber handle.  The ships shown off are listed below.

Launchers
  • Slave I (Jango Fett)
  • Anakin's Starfighter (Clone Wars Delta-7)
  • Obi-Wan's Starfighter (Clone Wars Delta-7)
Ripcord
  • Plo Koon's Starfighter (Delta-7)
  • Magnaguard Starfighter
  • V-Wing
  • Obi-Wan's Starfighter (Clone Wars Delta-7)
  • General Grievous' Starfighter
  • Y-Wing
  • Anakin's Starfighter (Clone Wars Delta-7)
R/C

The R/C Millennium Falcon that was first announced in the Hasbro press release on Friday is a little different than the Gunship and Starfighter that were released last year.  This is part of the Speed Stars line but uses similar technology to the previous releases.  Only this time the blades are embedded in the middle of the ship.  Neat design choice.

Toy Fair - Update 3

Most of the excitement at any Star Wars presentation is going to center around the 3.75" action figures but let's not forget the other lines as well.

Role Play

It's already been mentioned that we'll see a new Boba Fett helmet in the role play line to go along with his new blaster rifle.  General Grievous gets a new lightsaber and the rest of the role play lightsabers will be getting some updates this year.

One of the big announcements is on the Force FX line of lightsabers.  Debuting this fall will be three new lightsaber, all with removable blades!  The first wave will include Luke Skywalker (ANH/ESB), Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi (ANH).

Transformers

On the Transformers front, Hasbro showed off several new, or newish, ships we should see later this year.  All of the characters will be based on their Clone Wars counterparts and not the films as they previously have been.

  • Anakin Skywalker/Y-Wing
  • Cad Bane/Xanadu Blood (Magnaguard Starfighter repaint)
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi/Delta-7 Starfighter
  • Captain Rex/Freeco Speeder
  • Yoda/Republic Attack Shuttle
Galactic Heroes

New Galactic Heroes figures are coming in both 2-packs and a few Cinema Scenes.  The Cinema Scenes will end this year but the 2-packs will be ongoing.

2-packs
  • Anakin Skywalker & ARF Trooper
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi & Commander Fil
  • Gunner Trooper & Battle Droid w/ jet pack
  • Republic Commandos 2-pack
  • Clone Trooper & Padme
  • Anakin Skywalker & Ahsoka Tano
  • Cad Bane & Aurra Sing
Cinema Scenes
  • EP3 Starfighter, Anakin, General Grievous, Magnaguard
  • Slave One, Jango Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi
  • AT-AT, AT-AT Driver, Speederbike
Force Battlers

Hasbro also is debuting (or is it re-launching?) a line called Force Battlers.  This is a new take on the Force Battlers line that ran back in 2005.  We saw a proto of Captain Rex from this line several weeks ago.  The figures are about 10 inches tall.  So far we've seen the following:

  • Anakin Skywalker
  • General Grievous
  • Captain Rex

Toy Fair - Update 2

A few things to clear up, including the figure count for the vintage line, now apparently officially called "The Vintage Collection" or TVC.

The Vintage line will include about 37 basic figures in 2010 with 27 new or updated figures and 10 re-packs appearing on the vintage cards for the first time.  The plan is for four waves this year, each about 6 weeks apart.  All six Saga films will be represented in the vintage line.  The line should run for at least two years.

Vintage figures
  • Dengar
  • Hoth Leia
  • Hoth Han Solo
  • Bespin Luke Skywalker
  • Boba Fett
  • Cloud Car Pilot
  • AT-AT Commander
  • C-3PO (removable plates)
  • Dak
  • Darth Vader
  • 4-LOM

All of the new vehicles for both the Saga and CW lines have already been announced or shown but include the following.

Vehicles
  • AT-AT
  • Clone Interceptor Tank (new deco)
  • Clone Swamp Speeder
  • R/C Hailfire Droid w/ Clone Trooper
  • Snowspeeder
  • Cloud Car

Toy Fair - Update

Some new info from Hasbro has been posted.

Disney exclusive Star Tours Boarding Party will have:

  • Star Tours Officer (repaint of Imperial Officer we saw this week from JediDefender.com)
  • Kaink
  • Teek
  • Ree-Yees
  • Chewbacca

The vintage cards will have a vintage-style Free Boba Fett offer on the front of the cards while the reverse will mimic the VOTC/VTAC figures where they'll have photos of the modern figures, a photo of the vintage counterpart and some text telling about the character.

Both Dak and the Cloud Car Pilot that Hasbro confirmed last week will be carded.  The Han Solo is in fact the jacket open version from Hoth that we'd been speculating about for several weeks now.

Exclusives

There will be a 4-LOM and Zuckuss exclusive at San Diego Comic-Con that will have them individually carded and sporting the reversed name plates, as a salute to the vintage figures, and will be packed together in a box with an opening front.

The Celebration V exclusive Camie and Fixer pack will be limited.

San Diego Comic-Con will have an Owen Lars and Darth Maul comic pack with an issue of Visionaries.  This will be Maul sporting his mechanical legs.

All of the exclusives should be available on HasbroToyShop.com and StarWarsShop.com.

Here are some notes from Toy Fair:

We will see approximately 31 figures in the CW line this year including a Mando Guard as well as Aurra Sing, new Grievous with cloak and Battle Droids.  Cad Bane will come in the Deluxe line with his speeder as well as Plo Koon on speeder and Anakin.

Confirmation on the Mandalorian with speeder bike in the Deluxe line.  New Interceptor Tank.  The Hailfire Droid we mentioned yesterday in the R/C line, comes with a figure and missiles you can launch from the remote.  Also, Battle Packs for CW, one of which supports the Hailfire droid.

The ESB Han Solo has been confirmed as the "welding" version, where he appears on the Falcon with Chewie on Hoth.  New Hoth Leia coming along with others we've already seen; Luke, Dengar and AT-AT Commander.  New C-3PO on his way as well as Dak and Cloud Car pilot which Hasbro confirmed last week in a Q&A.

The Rocket Firing Fett will have the J-slot and a small missile with a longer launching version.  Classic 5 points of articulation and paint apps like Kenner.  Should require 5 POPs for the offer.

Galactic Heroes line will have an AT-AT also.  New GH figs will include some from the EU like Republic Commandos.

The Teek figure we saw this week will be in a Disney exclusive Star Tours boarding set.

Confirmation on the Camie and Fixer comic pack for Celebration V exclusive.  Also, 4-LOM and Zuckuss.  Darth Maul and Owen Lars are SDCC exclusives.

There will be a three OT vehicles available in classic Kenner style boxes, including the AT-AT.  The packaging will be exclusive to Toys-R-Us while the other retail stores will have the standard packaging (blue clouds with Captain Rex).

The Vintage line of figures will retail for $7.99 while the Clone Wars and Legends lines will drop to $6.99.

Hasbro

It's a day early, but Hasbro has been putting out press releases in advance of tomorrow's Toy Fair kickoff event.

Newly announced today by Hasbro we have an R/C Millennium Falcon.  The MSRP will be $49.99 and measures 11 inches long by 8 inches.  This will be in the same style as last year's Jedi Starfighter and Republic Gunship.

For the action figure scale, 3.75", we have a new R/C vehicle, the Hailfire Droid!  The Hailfire Droid has an MSRP of $59.99.  The R/C Droid features 18 projectile-firing canons that can be fired remotely from the handheld remote and includes a 3.75" Clone Trooper.  Both R/C vehicles are due this Fall.

In 2010 you will be able to battle with your action figures in a whole new game; Star Wars: Galactic Battle Game.  Action figures will come packed with a gaming base, battle attributes card and die allowing you to interact with your action figures in a whole new way.  the Galactic Battle Game will be included in all Clone Wars and Saga Legends figures, Deluxe figures and vehicles and Battle Packs.

Hasbro also announces the new Vintage line of action figures which will replace the Legacy Collection line starting in August.  The line will have packaging reminiscent to that of the original Star Wars line of action figures.

This Fall's Boba Fett mail-away program will be for a Rocket Firing Boba Fett that is "identically styled after the 1980 mail-away figure."

Fans of the Galactic Heroes line will finally have a chance to pick up the AT-AT that was first shown off in early 2009.  This version will also feature lights and sounds and include a speeder bike and AT-AT Driver figure.  The Galactic Heroes AT-AT carries an MSRP of $39.99.

Hasbro

Teek
Teek

Hasbro mentioned in a Q&A that there would be some new Disney related action figures this year and over the last couple of days a photo from eBay has made the rounds that seems to depict a cast member from the Star Tours ride.  The same eBay seller offered up two new one figures yesterday; Teek and Kaink!

Teek is from the 80's television movie Ewoks: The Battle for Endor while Kaink's first appearance was in Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure.

Both characters made appearances in the Star Tours ride and speculation is that they may be up for release along with the Star Tours cast member in an exclusive multi-pack at the Disney parks this year.  We'll let you know when we have confirmation of when (if?) these guys are heading your way.

Toy Fair

Boba Fett roleplay helmet
Boba Fett
StarWars.com posted an early look at several new 2010 items that will be shown off at Toy Fair this weekend in New York City.

From Hasbro we have an early look at two new role play items, Boba Fett's helmet and General Grievous' lightsaber.  Fett's helmet is in the same vein as the Clone Helmets that have come out over the last few years.  The Grievous lightsaber has several configurations that allow kids to play with it in several different ways.  Both will retail for about $34.99.

Lego shows off two new sets that we've posted about before; 8089 Hoth Wampa Cave and 8098 Clone Turbo Tank.  Both sets are due in August but there are several new 2010 sets available now.

Sideshow

Greedo

Next week Sideshow is releasing two new Star Wars items, one of which is a 1:6 scale Greedo!  Sideshow also has a cantina environment going on sale as well.

Both items will be on sale at 1:00PM EST on Friday, February 19th.

Droids

If you've been waiting for new Droids in the 1:6 scale then you're in luck, next week on Thursday, February 18th, the new Medicom C-3PO and R2-D2 figures will be on sale.  They should go up with the release of the newsletter.  The preview shows both droids so this may be a 2-pack?  Not sure, we'll know soon enough.

Gentle Giant

Gentle Giant ANH Luke Skywalker
PGM Exclusive

Gentle Giant announced a couple weeks ago that they would be putting out a Luke Skywalker bust this year and yesterday we finally saw some photos.  This will be Luke in his classic Tatooine garb and there will be two versions; the regular release will have him holding his lightsaber while the Premiere Guild exclusive will include his T-16 Skyhopper model.  Check out the T-16 version.

ToyFare magazine published photos of both buts and Gentle Giant's VinylSquirrel posted the comparison photo below on GentleGiantCollectors.com.

The bust with the lightsaber is going to be over a foot tall, measuring to the top of the lightsaber blade.  But, also check out the excellent Slave Leia that's due up later this year as well!

Gentle Giant Luke Skywalker bust comparison

Previews magazine showed the regular edition Luke for sale in its latest issue so be on the lookout for pre-orders from your favorite retailers.

Star Wars Weekends

Yesterday, StarWars.com posted the new 2010 artwork for Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World.

Star Wars Weekends Poster Art

This year's weekend events will run from May 21st through June 13th.  Keep an eye on StarWars.com for updates on guests and other events.  And don't forget that this year marks the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, making it just that much more special.

2-8-2010

Hasbro

Hasbro reported a higher quarterly profit than originally anticipated.  Hasbro's 4th quarter profits were $165.6 million on $1.38 billion in net revenue.  One property directly named as being responsible for that increase were sales of Transformers.

For a full press release, check out CNNMoney.com.

Toy Fair

The 2010 NY Toy Fair begins next Sunday, February 14th, but Hasbro and some other companies should have a sneak preview beginning on Saturday the 13th.  We may start to see a few more leaks and press releases this week so stay tuned for that.  It's an exciting time for fans of toys!

2-5-2010

Hasbro

Hasbro put out a press release yesterday with some early announcements of toys that will be shown next week in NY at the 2010 Toy Fair.  Included in that announcement is the one we've been waiting for, the AT-AT.

STAR WARS AT-AT

(Approximate Retail Value: $99.99; Ages: 5 & up; Available: August 1, 2010)
In space, size does matter, and Hasbro certainly kept that in mind when creating its all-new, highly detailed STAR WARS AT-AT. The AT-AT (All Terrain Armored Transport) played a significant role in the Empire’s military assault in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, and it will play an equally important role in every fan’s toy collection this year!  Measuring more than 24 inches tall, nearly 28 inches long, and 12 inches wide, this colossal vehicle holds up to 20 STAR WARS figures – 6 of which can fit in its head alone! – and includes so many play and electronic features true to its on-screen counterpart that it’s hard to believe!  From the zip-line in its body and articulated legs for superb poseability, to its LED lights and authentic movie sounds and phrases, this is the must-have addition for STAR WARS fans of all ages.  Includes a 3 ¾ inch AT-AT driver action figure and a pop-out speeder bike

There is also a leaked photo of the AT-AT now showing on StarWars-Descriptions.com, a German fan and news site.

Toys-R-Us Exclusive EU Wave

As part of an answer to SirStevesGuide.com, Hasbro mentions that the upcoming Expanded Universe wave of Legacy Collection, the final wave for that line, will now be a Toys-R-Us exclusive arriving in May.  Then, in June, the remainder of the line will be offered to online retailers.

This is somewhat disturbing news since it implies that retailers such as Walmart and Target don't have enough confidence in the Legacy Collection assortment of figures and that they passed on future waves which at this point would be the EU wave.  Since TRU stores are fewer and farther between than Walmart and Target, this could potentially make the Expanded Universe wave of figures extremely difficult to locate, even more than end-of-line waves in previous years.

Hasbro Q&A

Hasbro has returned the first answers to the 2010 Q&A program and with Toy Fair only two weeks away, it's surprising that they had any announcements, but they did.

CollectionStation.com asked about the chances for more multi-packs based on the Battle Front video game.  Hasbro responded that if all goes well with their 2011 exclusives program, we could possibly see at least one new Battle Front II pack.

If you had any questions about why Hasbro released the Blockbuster 2-packs to stores, DewbackPatrol.com has the answer; basically it was to get a backlog of action figures to retail without going to the discount stores (Big Lots, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, etc.).  This seems to be in line with an answer they provided a few weeks ago where they talked about interrupting the normal computerized reordering systems and pushing later waves out to retail rather than force them to wait for the earlier releases to work through.  This strategy was in answer to the drop in collector purchasing and slow retail sales we saw for the first part of 2009.

ImperialShipyards.net gets a great scoop on two upcoming action figures; a new Cloud Car Pilot and Dak Ralter!  These will go along nicely with the new Cloud Car and Snowspeeder that Hasbro confirmed at the UK Toy Fair.  As part of the same answer, Hasbro reconfirms that both of those ships will be released in the general Starfighter line, with an exception that we'll have to wait till NY Toy Fair to hear about.  Since the Snowspeeder has been listed as Luke Skywalker's, is it possible we'll see a second release, maybe as an exclusive, with a different deco and pack-in figure?

JediInsider.com has confirmation of a new Jabba with dais coming later this year.  The pack should have a pack-in figure as well.  Details, according to the answer, will be coming at Celebration V in August.

JediTempleArchives.com, in a question about future pack-ins, got Hasbro to give up two pieces of information; one, the replacement line for Legacy has now been confirmed again as a "Vintage" line and that it will not have any pack-ins.

If you are a fan of Luke's Landspeeder, then Raving Toy Maniac has good news, Hasbro is looking bring the Toys-R-Us exclusive back out, possibly in 2011.

Clone Wars fans have been noticing that the upcoming Commander Stone Clone Trooper has a new sculpt and is lacking some articulation that has been standard on Clone Troopers till now.  Both ImperialShipyards.net and RebelScum.com asked about this and Hasbro's response is that the new tooling was created to help add manufacturing capacity, replace the older Clone molds that are starting to wear and also to be a little more accurate to the animation.  Both versions of the Clone Trooper sculpt will ship with the Commander Stone version eventually taking over.

BanthaSkull.com asked for any new information on the alternate head sculpt for the Hoth Rebel Trooper. Hasbro again confirmed that this would come in a Battle Pack and, as of now, will be coming this Fall.  They also state that the Battle Pack will be collector oriented and that the other figures in the set will "new and different to some extent."

Possibly the biggest, and yet worst kept pieces of news, is that the new AT-AT will be coming this fall.  Toy News International gets the scoop with the following information; it's scheduled for an August launch, will have an MSRP of $99.99, includes several electronic phrases and has been redesigned from the ground up.
