Republic Gunship

For Star Wars - Attack of the Clones a new transport ship was designed.  The Republic Gunship was designated as a Low-Altitude Assault Transport/infantry (LAAT/i) and used to deploy troops into battle.  The Gunship quickly became an iconic ship that has since been featured in the animated "Clone Wars" cartoon and Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith

Several companies have put out Republic Gunship toys including Hasbro, Lego and Code 3 Collectibles.

Hasbro

Hasbro has released Republic Gunship toys in several scales including 3.75" action figure size, Action Fleet and two sizes of Titaniums.

The first version from Hasbro was released in the Fall of 2002 in support of Attack of the Clones.  It was later repainted as the Command Gunship in the 2003 "Clone Wars" line and again in 2005 for Revenge of the Sith.  Toys-R-Us had an exclusive release in 2006 that used the shark decoration seen in the animated "Clone Wars" cartoon.

The final wave of Action Fleet vehicles in 2003 included a Republic Gunship.  This wave of vehicles, which also included Jango Fett's Slave I and a Republic Assault Ship, turned out to be the last Action Fleet wave produced by Hasbro making all three ships rather scarce.

Hasbro wasn't done with the Action Fleet scale, though, and debuted the Ultra Titanium line of vehicles at Wal-Mart in 2005.  The first two ships were Luke Skywalker's X-Wing and a Republic Gunship.  Nearly identical in size and sculpt to the Action Fleet version, the Ultra Titanium Gunship is made mostly of die-cast metal with some plastic parts and retailed for $19.99.  The major difference from the AF version is the lack of opening rear doors.  Although it started as a Wal-Mart exclusive, the Ultra line would later sell at other retailers before being cancelled in late 2006.  The Gunship has not been re-released as of this writing.

Alongside the 6" scaled Ultra line, Wal-Mart also had a new 3" line of Titanium vehicles.  Priced around $4.99 the line has become very diverse since 2005 and sells out frequently.  The second wave of Titaniums included a Saga deco Republic Gunship.  The same sculpt has been released three more times using the ROTS, animated "Clone Wars" and Command Gunship paint schemes.  The animated style was part of the 2006 Ultimate Galactic Hunt promotion and was initially short-packed.

In 2005 Hasbro debuted a new game called Attactix.  This line of figures have spring loaded projectiles and slashing lightsaber action that players use to defeat their opponents.  Expanding on the figures, Hasbro created larger playing pieces called Battle Masters.  The second wave of 2005 included a Republic Gunship, again using the AOTC paint scheme.  A second release in 2006 sported the animated "Clone Wars" shark deco and came with a Clone Pilot action figure.

Lego

Republic Gunship 7163

Lego has released two versions of the Republic Gunship.  In April 2002 set 7163 was released in the mini-fig scale.  Containing 686 pieces, the set came with 4 Clone Troopers, a Jedi, a Destroyer Droid and 2 Super Battle Droids.  Toys-R-Us stores, and possibly some other retailers, received a very cool display with the Gunship that year.  Fully assembled, the ship was suspended from a background made to resemble the Geonosis Arena from the movie.

Expanding on their new mini line of Star Wars ships, Lego released a Republic Gunship in 2003.  Set 4490 had 102 pieces and included part of the Y-Wing which was the bonus ship in this wave.

There were also a few promotion items released in 2002 to support both Attack of the Clones and the Lego line.  The first was a set of 4 posters that were given away at Toys-R-Us stores.  Each poster had a different AOTC set pictured on the front while the backs, when assembled, formed one large photo of the Gunship set.

I'm not positive where the second promotion was released.  I originally thought it was given out at Celebration 2 but I've had some other information on it since then.  This promotion was an orange T-Shirt with the Lego logo and a picture of the Republic Gunship on on the front.

Misc

As I mentioned above, other companies have come out with Republic Gunship items as well.  One of these companies, Rawcliffe, has created several pewter pieces for the original and prequel trilogies.  I believe the Gunship piece was released in 2002 but I didn't purchase it until late 2004.

Code 3 Collectibles which is known for their die-cast fire trucks obtained the Star Wars license a few years ago.  Their first, and only as of this writing, prequel vehicle was 2005's Republic Gunship.  This set also included the first characters with a Star Wars vehicle with Yoda and several Clone Troopers standing on a removable platform.  Highly detailed, the die-cast ship sports the same AOTC paint scheme as the Hasbro and Lego versions.  Although a nice item, there are several inaccuracies and it lacks some of the internal detail that made Code 3's Millennium Falcon and X-Wing ships so desirable.

Tomy, which has the Star Wars license in Japan, has come out with several small Star Wars collectibles over the last few years and in 2005 they released a series of mini dioramas.  One of these dioramas is of the larger cargo Gunship (LAAT/c) after it has just dropped an AT-TE onto the Geonosis battlefield.

Wizards of the Coast included the Republic Gunship in three of it's CCG expansion sets; Attack of the Clones, Sith Rising and Jedi Guardians.  There were also foil chase versions in the AOTC and Sith Rising sets.

And, if all that isn't engough, Random House also got in on the game releasing a punch-out book for Attack of the Clones.  Released in April 2002, the book contained several different vehicles that could be assembled.  Along with the Gunship you could also find a Jedi Starfighter and Slave I, as well as a few other designs.
