Celebration V Swag

8-22-2010

Swag!

From posters to patches, pins to postcards, trading cards and comics, attendees at Celebration V had plenty of free items they could pick up throughout the weekend.

Just entering the doors would net you a swag bag full of advertisements for various companies as well as a McDonald's toy skateboard and Cartamundi's advertisement for their Aces cards.

Hasbro handed out four unused backer cards from the upcoming Revenge of the Sith wave along with a poster they debuted at San Diego Comic-Con.  Fans of Galactic Heroes could also pick up a bagged Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing outfit.

Cartamundi handed out a set of Aces cards with Ralph McQuarrie artwork while the McQuarrie exhibit had nine trading cards over the weekend that formed a Yoda painting when the backs are displayed together.

Lego's white Boba Fett minifigure was popular, and free to anyone who helped build a tile for the community mural build.

Topps handed out three different trading cards and even held raffles for sketch cards.  Dark Horse and Del Rey hooked up to hand out Knight Errant #0, and the artist even appeared at the DH booth to autograph them.

Pins and patches are always a huge hit at conventions and Celebration V had something for everyone.  Five collecting clubs, Florida, Kentucky, Ohio, DC and Pennsylvania, each handed out a piece of a larger Boba Fett patch while other patches could be found in the Droid Builders room, from 501st members or the Dented Helmet website.  Even the Elvis Trooper had a Celebration V patch if you tracked him down.

Even though there were plenty of exclusives for purchase at CV, it was possible to bring home a full bag of collectibles without spending a dime.

Swag, or SWAG (Stuff We All Get), is always a big part a convention and Celebration V will be no different.  From fan club patches to artist postcards, Hasbro posters to bookmarks, vendors and fans alike will be giving away items at their booths throughout the weekend.  Being suckers for free stuff, we'll try to pick up as much as we can and bring you photos of the cool, and sometimes less advertised, collectibles from Celebration V.

Here is a short list of several items of note that you can look for as you wander the exhibit hall at Celebration.
