Star Wars Celebration V
8-22-2010Celebration V CoverageBefore setting out for Celebration V, it was our intent to cover as much of the convention as possible. While we tried to send updates to Twitter when possible, it quickly became clear that there was so much to do and see at Celebration that updating the website kind of took a back burner. That didn't stop us from taking photos and attending panels and, hopefully, the updates posted over the last several days made up for it. Star Wars Celebration is a busy and fun event, there is something to be done nearly every second of the day whether it's attending a panel, shopping in the store or on the exhibit hall floor or meeting up after hours with friends you haven't seen in years. Even standing in line for autographs or to pick up art can be fun, as everyone around you is a Star Wars fan also. Today we posted the last of the photos and videos from the show, including a write-up of the Robert Watts panel. Hopefully everyone will find something interesting or unique in the coverage provided and continue to stop back to Imperial Holocron as we continue to cover the Star Wars hobby. 8-21-2010More GalleriesIt's taken a while to get the photos processed and the events written up but check out the Lego gallery along with the What's New From Hasbro panel information. 8-20-2010Galleries UpdatedToday we posted galleries for the R2-D2 Droid Builders room, Grand Florida LEGO Users Group (GFLUG), the Echo Base Hoth Diorama and Hasbro's booth. Still working to get the Hasbro panel information online as well as galleries for costumed fans, photo props and other miscellaneous photos from around the convention. Also, look for information on the Robert Watts and Lorne Peterson/Jon Berg panels to be posted, probably tomorrow. GalleriesWe posted new slideshows from the 501st Legion room, the TK Project helmets and Gentle Giant's booth. More will be posted throughout the day. Besides the 501st Trooper video posted yesterday, we also have video of both of Hasbro's dioramas, the Hoth diorama and the incredible fireworks display from Disney's Last Tour to Endor. Look for the photos first and we'll follow with the video later in the week. 8-19-2010501st Stormtrooper ParadeFinally back at home base and I'm sorting and processing all the video and photographs that I took during Celebration V. I'll be adding albums and info on the panels I attended over the next couple of days, so keep stopping back to check them out. To kick off the new updates, check out the 501st Stormtrooper parade video just posted to YouTube. 8-15-2010Last Tour to EndorAttended the Last Tour to Endor last night and had a blast. The Raiders of the Lost Jedi Temple of Doom exhibition was insane. George Lucas was in attendance for our 9:50 show, as were Seth Green, Anthony Daniels, Jamie King, Kyle Newman, Dave Filoni and several other actors, including the Clone Wars voice actors. Word from those that attended the 12:15 showing said that Mark Hamill attended. Photos and more info to come, but I'm hoping that a video of the show will be made available, it was brilliant. Steve Sansweet held court in Tatooine Traders for a while and fans had the chance to ride Star Tours. The cap on the night was the fireworks show which was set to John Williams music and had voice-overs to point out highlights from all six of the Saga films. I have a video of it with only a few seconds gap. Have to wait to get back from Celebration V to process but hopefully we'll have that on the YouTube channel later this week. Blu-rayThe big announcement from the George Lucas presentation yesterday was the announcement of the Star Wars Blu-ray Box Set. Scheduled for Fall 2011, the set will include all six films of the Saga, extensive features and new footage we've never seen. From reports, there is an insane Return of the Jedi Luke scene that will be included. Clone WarsAlso announced yesterday for the Clone Wars is the introduction of Darth Maul's brother as a new villain. He'll be gold and black, Filoni's choice as he's from Pittsburgh, and we were even treated to a sneak peek on the show floor (for those that didn't attend the panel), in the form of a chalk floor drawing. We should have a photo of the completed artwork later. TK Helmet ExhibitionHad the opportunity to walk through the 501st's TK Helmet Exhibition yesterday and photograph it. The auction is today and I'll see about having a slideshow of the helmets up tonight. 501st Legion and Droid BuildersAfter photographing the helmet exhibition, spent a few minutes taking photos around the 501st and Droid Builder rooms. There are a lot of talented and creative people building props and costumes from the Star Wars films as well as EU and original characters. UpdatesFound it harder than I expected to keep the website updated from CV. It's been a busy 3 days (soon to be 4) and stopping to process and upload photos has been secondary. Do keep your eyes on our Twitter feed (ImpHolocron) for live info and photographs throughout the day. Hopefully after the show closes tonight I'll have time to get some more stuff online. 8-14-2010The Art of Ralph McQuarrieThe Art of Ralph McQuarrie display at Celebration V features several pieces of artwork that were recently found, forgotten, in Ralph's house. If you still have time at the convention, make sure you stop buy to see the display. For those of you at home, we have a slideshow of the art. 8-13-2010Watts, Peterson & BergWe were able to attend two panels yesterday, including Robert Watts and a second with Jon Berg and Lorne Peterson. I'll have more info and photos later, but here are a couple quick shots. PSWCSThe Pennsylvania Star Wars Collectors Society got together for a group photo on the Celebration V photo stage yesterday. The crew is decked out in the Celebration V Chewbacca medallion shirts. 7-17-2010
Star Wars Celebration V will open in just under four weeks, on August 12th. Imperial Holocron will be arriving in Orland on Wednesday, August 11th and our main coverage will begin then. Till then, we'll cover updates on autograph guests, artists and other events as the information is released. At the top of the page are several events and attractions that we plan to cover over the course of Celebration. We'll have photos and possibly live updates from the events. If you are not already following us on Twitter (ImpHolocron), make sure to add us as that's where our live updates will be posted. Our goal is to provide updates throughout the days as well as more detailed write-ups after hours. Celebration V will be a very busy weekend with plenty to see and do, but we are committed to providing as much coverage as possible for those not able to attend the event. |
